Saga Dawa festival is one of the important festival observed by Tibetan Buddhist on the 15th June. This is held each year on the full moon day of the forth lunar month of the Tibetan calendar. It is one of the most important religious festivals observed in Tibet. This auspicious day is observed in order to honor the Sakyamuni´s (Buddha´s) enlightenment which coincide three important events in his life, namely his birth, the Nirvana, enlightenment, and his death Parinirvana occurred around Mt. Kailash. This festival is observed with the belief that good deeds and prayers are multiplied thousand fold during the festival. Therefore, a lot of prayers and performances are performed to appease the god and goddess. It is is observed by Tibetan Buddhist as one of the important festival in their society. It therefore occupied an important position in the Tibetan society. This festival has been observing for past thousand years or so.
Saga Dawa festival begins with short drive from Kathmandu to Zhangmu through Kodari, Nepal Tibet border and have a jeep drive to Nyalam and then continue to Saga, Paryang, and then finally you will have trip to Chui Gompa and then trip around the Manasarover and drive to Darchen, where you will have trip to Serlung monastery where you will take part in Gaga Dawa festival and finally you will retrace back to Nyalam and then Kathmandu via Kodari highway.
Outline Itinerary:

- Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu ( Symbhunath, Buddhanath, Pashupatinath and Kathmandu durbar squire and back to Hotel.

- Day 10: Trek to Dolma La (pass) of 18600ft Zuthul Puk
- Day 11: Trek to 3 hrs up to Mansarovar Lake and overnight at Chu Gumpa
- Day 12: Drive Mansarovar –Paryang
- Day 13: Drive Paryang to Saga (230km) 7 8 hrs
- Day 14: Drive Saga Nyalam or Zhangmu (245km) 6 7 hrs
- Day 15: Drive Nyalam or Zhangmu Kathmandu (245km) 5 6 hrs
- Day 16: Departure to your home.
