Helambu Trek

Helambu trek have gained popularity for its beautiful villages of Helambu valley inherited mostly by Tamang and Sherpa communities with background of huge Jugal Himal Range. The Sherpa village of Tarke Ghyang that forms the focus of Helambu is a charming enclave of farmers and yak herders. Trip start from Sundarijal(1460m)1 hour drive from Kathmandu and enters the area of Shivapuri National Park ends the trip in Melamchepool drive back to Kathmandu

Helambu Valley Trekking offers alpine and rain forests with different kinds of trees and species of animals and birds. Mostly Kalij(Beautiful colored hen like bird), deer, fox, wild cats, leopard etc. one can experience culture and rituals of Sherpa and Tamang peoples. Trek is an easy and enjoyable trip conducted at the average altitude of 3500m. Helambu region is located north of Kathmandu valley and some of its parts lie in Langtang National park at sindhupalchok district.

Outline Itinerary:

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu, pick up from Airport and transfer to hotel of your choice. After completion of some official formalities rest, or explore around local market Thamel.
Day 02: Full day guided sightseeing tour around Kathmandu valley. Places include major historical and religious cultural sites like Pashupatinath Temple (listed as World Heritage site), Swoyambhu temple, and Kathmandu durbar square, Boudhanath Stupa etc.
Day 03: Early morning 1 hour drive to Sundarijal(1460m) after having Breakfast and trek to chisopani(2060m) which takes around 5 6 hours through jungles of Shivapuri National park, Terrace famed fields, villages of Tamang. Enjoy the Panoramic view of fields and m
Day 04: Trek From Chisopani(2060m) to kutumsang(2100m) which takes around 4 5 hours. Trail passes through fields and villages to Kutumsang a small village.
Day 05: Trekking to Thadepati at the altitude 3400m above sea level, maximum elevation point of this trek. Overnight at local lodge.
Day 06: After breakfast, trek resume from Thadepati(3400m) to Tarkegyang(2500m) and it takes 6 hours.
Day 07: You spend your day, either by resting or explore around Tarkegyang(2600m). The Sherpa village monasteries, garden of apples and view of High Mountain are the attraction of these areas. Overnight at lodge.
Day 08: Trek to Sarmathang(1950m) or Kakani(2070m) and overnight at lodge.
Day 09: Trek to Melamchi(870m) near Melamchi river.
Day 10: Drive from Melamchi Pool to the city of Kathmandu(1326m). Trip takes around 3 to 4 hours via Dhulikhel. Rest of the day is free for rest or personal activities.
Day 11: Free day at Kathmandu, if you are not tired then visit to ancient Nepali architectural sites will enhance knowledge and experience of Nepali culture and tradition around Patan and Bhaktapur durbar square or other architectural villages like Khokana old to
Day 12: Final departure towards your destination or go for onwards programs in Nepal.

Day 06 :After breakfast, trek resume from Thadepati(3400m) to Tarkegyang(2500m) and it takes 6 hours. Trail passes through Melamchigaon, Sherpa village, which lies in Sindhupalchok district.
Day 07 :You spend your day, either by resting or explore around Tarkegyang(2600m). The Sherpa village monasteries, garden of apples and view of High Mountain are the attraction of these areas. Overnight at lodge.
Day 08 :Trek to Sarmathang(1950m) or Kakani(2070m) and overnight at lodge. Trek starts passing by Hotels and lodges of Tarkegyang then drops off the west side of ridge in huge Rhododendron Forest, along a broad, well travelled path. Passing through sherpa village and chortens you reach Kakani(2070m) after five hours trek.
Day 09 :Trek to Melamchi(870m) near Melamchi river. Trail pass croosing Thimbu(1580m), which enters the valley of Melamchi and Indrawati in 5 and half hours. Melamchi, small town connecting kathmandu and this region with road access. Overnight at lodge.
Day 10 :Drive from Melamchi Pool to the city of Kathmandu(1326m). Trip takes around 3 to 4 hours via Dhulikhel. Rest of the day is free for rest or personal activities.
